Before you travel with Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines

Before you set sail on your Fred. Olsen cruise, it's important you know everything you need to do before you depart. Below we have pulled together some useful information for you to read ahead of your trip to ensure you have a stress-free cruise holiday.

The Fred. Olsen app is your go-to travel companion once you're on board. Use it to check your daily programme, browse shore tours, view your onboard account, and view restaurant menus – all from your mobile or tablet.

You can download the app for free from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. Once on board, simply connect to the ship’s free WiFi (no internet package needed) and follow the instructions to log in and start exploring.

Before check-in, you must fill in the 'Guest Information' section online via Fred. Olsens' 'My Cruises' portal. Click here to view 'My Cruises'.

To keep check-in smooth and stress-free, embarkation times are staggered over a four-hour window, based on your cabin’s deck and location. Make sure you arrive as close as possible to your assigned check-in time to avoid queues.

For fly-cruise guests, check your flight tickets for your airport check-in time. If you’re a Diamond Elite or Suite Dreams guest, you’ll enjoy priority check-in.

When you get to the port, head to the luggage drop-off zone where porters will be ready to help. Make sure your bags are clearly labelled and keep any dress or suit carriers with you as hand luggage.

At check-in, you’ll need your cruise ticket and passport handy. Once you’re all checked in, you’ll get your ship pass and can relax in the lounge until boarding begins.

Before you cruise, you will need to download the Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines app and complete the 'Guest Information' section in order to be allocated your tickets. You can also complete this form via the 'My Cruises' section of the Fred. Olsen Cruise Line website.

You can expect to receive your tickets via email approximately 2 weeks before your cruise departs.

Passports are required for travel. Please check that your passport has at least 6 months validity from the return date of your trip. Proof of residency will be required for non UK Passport Holders. There are also new passport validity requirements for travelling to any EU destinations. You can use this handy passport checker on the Gov.uk website here.

All Fred. Olsen Cruise Line passengers are required to have comprehensive travel insurance that includes specific cruise cover. Failure to obtain appropriate insurance will result in you being denied boarding by the cruise line. Here is a travel insurance provider that Seascanner highly recommends: https://www.seascanner.co.uk/travel-insurance.

Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines has a number of health and safety measures that they have put in place to keep you and your party safe whilst travelling onboard one of their ships, so it's worth learning about these so you are fully prepared before you travel with them. Fred. Olsen Cruise Line ships offer speciality dining experiences across its fleet for an additional fee. Speciality dining can be pre-booked from 13 weeks to 24 hours before your cruise departs via My Cruises. Click here to view Fred. Olsen's 'My Cruises' portal.

Shore tours open for booking via My Cruises around 12 weeks before you set sail.

Once booked, you’ll get an email confirmation, and your tickets will be waiting for you in your cabin when you board. You can log in to My Cruises at any time to check what you’ve booked.

Gratuities are usually £5.00 per person, per day for guests aged 12 and over. This is shared between your cabin steward and restaurant waiter, and is automatically added to your onboard account. Don’t worry – tipping is completely optional. You can adjust or remove this charge at Guest Services on board, or tip personally if you prefer.

You can also pre-pay your gratuities before you travel.

If you're sailing on a 2026 Freedom Fare, gratuities are already included in your cruise fare.
