Before you travel with Virgin Voyages

Before you set sail on your Virgin Voyages ship, it's important you know everything you need to do before you depart. Below, we have pulled together some useful information for you to read ahead of your trip to ensure you have a stress-free cruise holiday.

Discover a smarter way to cruise with the Virgin Voyages app- your essential companion for an unforgettable journey. From booking shore excursions to ordering onboard food and unlocking your cabin key, the app puts everything at your fingertips. Get real-time updates, plan your daily activities, and even chat with fellow sailors. Download before you board to take full control of your cruise from start to finish. Completing online check-in on the Virgin Voyages App is the best way to ensure you have the smoothest possible experience at the terminal; it's recommended to complete this at least 2 weeks before you sail. Make sure to check your passport validity (minimum 6 months) and verify any visas you may require for your voyage. 24 hours before you sail, you will also be required to complete a health check form, which will appear on the homescreen of the Virgin Voyages App.

Raise a glass to savings with the Virgin Voyages Bar Tab! Instead of a traditional drinks package, Virgin Voyages offers a flexible Bar Tab. Prepay a set amount before you cruise, and Virgin will reward you with bonus credit to be spent on premium beverages across the Lady ships and at The Beach Club at Bimini. Use your Sailor Loot (aka onboard credit) on cocktails, wine, beer, barista-made coffee, and more, with no daily limits and no hidden fees. Unused Bar Tab credit is not refundable at the end of your cruise.

The Band is Virgin Voyages’ sleek wearable bracelet that unlocks your entire onboard experience. You’ll receive this smart, eco-friendly accessory at check-in and wear it throughout your cruise for seamless access to your cabin, dining reservations, and purchases. There’s no need to carry cash or cards around the ship- just tap and go!

Explore more with Virgin Voyages’ Shore Things, curated shore excursions designed to immerse you in every destination. Once you've reserved your cruise, just log into the Virgin Voyages app or website to browse and book excursions tailored to your interests. From cultural tours to off-the-beaten-path adventures, Shore Things are curated in small groups for a more personal experience. Secure your spot early, as popular Shore Things fill up fast!

All dining venues are included as standard in your Virgin Voyages cruise fare, so all you need to do is decide which restaurant suits your fancy! Not all dining venues require reservations; however, for those which do, RockStar and Mega RockStar suite guests can book 60 days before their voyage, while all other guests can book 45 days prior. Simply use the Virgin Voyages app to browse menus and reserve tables at any of the incredible eateries onboard. While pre-voyage booking is recommended, walk-in and same-day reservations are welcome at all eateries and may be available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Choosing the perfect Virgin Voyages cabin is simple and exciting. Start by browsing cabin options online or through the Virgin Voyages app. From cosy Insider cabins to Sea Terraces with private hammocks, there's a space for every sailor. Want more luxury? Upgrade to RockStar Quarters for VIP perks like Richard’s Rooftop access, premium amenities, and priority services. Book early to secure your ideal location! Cabin selection happens during the booking process, and upgrades can be made anytime before you sail.

Virgin Voyages puts your well-being first with industry-leading health and safety protocols designed for a worry-free voyage. Virgin Voyages requires Sailors to have a valid passport with an expiration date at least 6 months after the cruise end date. Additionally, depending on your country of citizenship, certain ports may also require a visa for entry. Read more about Virgin Voyages' travel requirements here.

While Virgin Voyages does not legally require travel insurance, it is strongly advised for passengers to purchase it, particularly for medical expenses and emergencies. The cruise line offers a "Voyage Protection" plan, which can be purchased at any time before the final payment is made on a booking. This includes benefits like trip delay, emergency accident and sickness medical protection, emergency evacuation, and baggage protection.
